SENIOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CHEMIST.
Niche Products Limited, a manufacturer of environmentally acceptable offshore hydraulic fluids, is looking to expand the team at its main facility in Leigh, Lancashire. The position available focuses on research and development within a busy and friendly laboratory team.
A senior research and development chemist is required to report directly to the Research & Development manager. Previous experience in formulation, research and development work is essential.
Responsibilities:-
Design and evaluation of products for hydraulic fluid applications according to project plans and objectives.
Continuously research, review and identify new materials and technologies that may form the foundation of future product developments.
Assist in the preparation of product manuals and safety data sheets for new products developed, together with any additional documentation required by customers.
Participate in any technical service requirements as the position requires.
Reporting of experimental results and findings which may include oral and/or written presentations.
You will be detail oriented, hard working and able to work well on your own initiative as well as part of a team. You will have excellent communication, IT and management skills.
Previous experience of working to ISO and/or other relevant standards would be advantageous.
Applicants should hold a science degree and/or other qualifications relevant to the role and must have previous experience in formulation, research and development.

Niche Products Ltd is offering a graduate training programme designed to provide both short term experience and training for graduates whilst providing the company with an assessment platform to identify the Managers of the future. We are looking for committed individuals who will be rewarded appropriately in return for their hard work by a loyal appreciative company.
Successful candidates will be employed on a temporary basis for approximately 3 months by the company and will undergo training in all key company functions such as Sales, Administration, Marketing, Logistics, Laboratory, Quality Control, Manufacture, ISO and Technical Support.
Following completion of a 3 months training programme candidates will receive a written reference from the company explaining the extent of the experience gained and the level of understanding demonstrated which they can use towards other future employers.
Candidates who show particular promise, may be offered the opportunity to stay for a further 3 months training period after which a decision would be made whether or not to offer the candidate permanent full time employment is a capacity to be determined.
Person Requirements:
Must have real world experience, not necessarily of working in industry but candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of life and demonstrate maturity.
Candidates must be willing to travel internationally.
Candidates must be excellent in their communication of the English language both oral and written.
Candidates should demonstrate a burning ambition to succeed and must also demonstrate a strong work ethic.
Degree Requirements:
Educated to honours degree level in science, computing, engineering and/or business management. Minimum 2:1 or equivalent degree required, if you have not completed your course, 1st and 2nd year results must predict a 2:1 or above for your final grade.
